ΜΑΘ - NATIONAL MATH HONOR SOCIETY @NCHS

What we do?

  • National Math Honor Society,  Mu Alpha Theta (μαθ), is a National Math organization founded in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma, whose primary purpose is to stimulate interest in mathematics by providing public recognition of superior mathematical scholarship and promoting various mathematical activities.

  • Mu Alpha Theta (μαθ) at NCHS inspires students to increase their knowledge in math by providing multiple opportunities. This honor society wishes to spread awareness about math and math-related career pathways through various activities such as problem-solving sessions/events/tutoring, informational sessions/discussions with mathematical leader panelists, and participate in several math competitions.

  • Membership Eligibility

  • μαθ Members : Algebra 2 or higher with a minimum 3.5 GPA average in all your math. You will be required to pay for National membership society dues.

  • Students who are accepted into the club will be required to complete math community service of 6 hours and attend bi-weekly meetings. Community service can be obtained conducting problem-solving lessons, peer-to-peer tutoring,  organize and participate in events to promote Math and its career pathways, volunteer to organize and participate in Math competitions, and other club activities. The interests generated by these activities help members to gain a greater understanding and sharing the enjoyment of Mathematics.
